FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When and where are the classes?
Classes will be held on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm and Saturday mornings at 9am. Thursday classes will meet at Echo Lake Park in Westfield/Mountainside and Saturday classes will meet at Nomahegan Park in Cranford. All classes are outdoors.
Why is the program 6 weeks?
Six weeks is the perfect amount of time. It’s enough to see results but not too long which may become overly time consuming and mentally discouraging.
What if I’m not in shape? Can I still join?
You don’t wait until you’re in shape to join boot camp, you JOIN boot camp to GET IN SHAPE!! However, I understand it can be intimidating if you do feel out of shape. Keep in mind, the point of the program is to improve upon your current fitness level.
What if I can’t make some of the classes?
You are still welcomed to join the program as long as you can make MOST of the classes. Each class will either have a cardio or a strength focus and the days will flip flop each week. For example, week 1, Thursday will focus on strength and Saturdays will focus on cardio. Then week 2, Thursday will focus on cardio and Saturday will focus on strength, etc. If you do have some foreseeable conflicts please reach out and we can chat about options.
What are the “at home” workouts?
You will be given a workout to do on your own each week. It’ll be best completed on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to allow a day or 2 of rest before the Thursday class.
What kind of exercises will we be doing?
Strong Like Bull Boot Camp focuses on functional movements using the least amount of equipment. These movements will truly transfer into everyday life. Jumping and landing properly, perfecting a squat, finding a pushup level right for you, and how to master a plank are some things to look forward to. Of course, to keep it exciting, we will incorporate suspension training straps, tires, battle ropes, an agility ladder, and added weight when appropriate. You will be instructed on proper form and will be encouraged to perform exercises in a way that are challenging but doable. There is no point putting your body through unneeded stress that will most likely end up causing injury.
What can I expect to get out of the 6 weeks? Will there be guaranteed results?
You get out what you put in! If you put in the hard work and commit to putting more focus on quality rather than quantity you are guaranteed to see results. The goal is to see improvement on your pre-test scores.
Will there be any nutritional components?
Nutrition and exercise go hand in hand when it comes to seeing progress. You will not be given a specific meal plan but nutrition tips from Dr. Laura Rokoz, a food scientist and owner of Eggl Rock Nutrition, will be given out throughout the program. Also, we will be promoting a smoothie of the week from JUICE HOUSE in Garwood. You will also be given coupons to try them out!
What happens if there is bad weather?
If the weather is slightly cold or wet we will tough it out! We’ll adjust to the conditions to keep safety a priority. If the weather is unsafe, lightening, overly humid temps, etc. we will have 2 options. We can relocate to an indoor facility in Westfield OR move our missed workout to Sunday morning. We will decide the option as a group if needed.
What is the end of the program celebration?
Celebrate your 6 weeks of hard work with fun filled family picnic. It’ll take place after our last class, after you all crush your goals! Family is encouraged to attend. Food, music, and lawn games in celebration of YOU!
Why STRONG LIKE BULL BOOT CAMP over other Boot Camps or Fitness programs?
Every program or challenge out there going to say they are the best. There are so many other options out there because there are so many different types of people! - STRONG LIKE BULL BOOT CAMP will NEVER give false hope. i.e. “you could lose up to 20 lbs in just 2 weeks!” You will NEVER, EVER hear ridiculous claims like that. Every body is different. You will get out what you put in. Results will vary.
- STRONG LIKE BULL BOOT CAMP adds a mental component. There will always be an exercise that challenges the brain and the cool down will promote relaxation. Train a body change a body, train a mind change a life! The physical work is only half the battle - it’s the mental piece that will truly allow you to push yourself.
- STRONG LIKE BULL BOOT CAMP promotes you doing exercises that are challenging but doable. I’ve seen instructors demand inappropriate movements when participants aren’t ready. I love burpees, but if your body isn’t ready to perform them with proper form you’re only going to be pushing yourself towards injury. Class sizes are small so everyone can get individual attention when needed.
- STRONG LIKE BULL BOOT CAMP is not overpriced. I’ve seen other programs that are so expensive it makes you feel like you truly have to make a sacrifice. A quality 6 week program, with 12 class offerings, taught but a highly trained instructor, who is only a text or email away after class time is over, at only $150 is a HUGE value.
